The Role

As a Wingwomen Preconception Genetic Counselor, you will help us achieve our mission to provide access to preconception health counseling, to women navigating their reproductive health journey.

Our programs are targeted to women with PCOS, Sickle Cell Disease, Diabetes, Endometriosis, Hashimoto's and Advanced maternal age.

You will educate our clients on reproductive health, provide information about standards of care and ultimately help our clients make behavioral changes to improve their quality of life. 

Our reproductive health coaches will work with our clients over the course of our 5,6 or 12-week programs to assist them in constructing a preconception wellness plan that they will use beyond the program. Our coaches leverage their professional experience, coaching skill sets, or clinical background to help our clients achieve their goals. 

From time to time, you may work with Wingwomen’s partners to refer clients to health professionals, to support optimal progress. 

Job Description

Wingwomen is seeking Prenatal Genetic Counselors to educate our clients on risks related to their condition. Our counselors will have 1:1 meetings with some program participants and provide feedback throughout the duration of the 5, 6, and 12-week sessions about potential risks associated with their pregnancy. 

What you will be responsible for:

  • Educating patients about prenatal risks associated with their condition during a group preconception class.

  • May serve as a liaison between the patient, and primary care provider, eliciting and providing medical and genetic information in collaboration with the Geneticist and providing psychosocial support.

  • Available roughly 4 days a month for program oversight and feedback. 

  • Ensure the high efficacy of our coaching program amongst clients. 

  • Provide constructive yet compassionate feedback and support to our clients.

  • Support client satisfaction via surveys, emails, and calls as needed. 

The ideal candidate:

  • Has a master's Degree in Genetic Counseling. Current Certified Diplomate of the American Board of Genetic Counseling or Active Candidate Status as designated by the American Board of Genetic Counseling.

  • Is available to teach/ coach in the PST timezone.

  • Has previous women’s reproductive health experience.

  • Previous experience working with, or volunteering with individuals who suffer from chronic pain, infertility, Endometriosis, Preeclampsia, PCOS, Sickle Cell Disease, Diabetes, Hashimoto's, and advanced maternal age fertility.

  • Excels at active listening, and providing compassionate support, while still keeping clients accountable for lifestyle changes, feedback, and program adherence. 

  • Is flexible, collaborative, has a beginner’s mindset, and is open to innovative approaches to care.
